Free Loom Knit Cowl Pattern
Nautical Cowl
Hello loom knitters! We are having a warm start to fall but soon the air will change and we will need some cozy loom knits to keep us warm. I had fun designing the rope-like look to this cowl. It has a fun texture and I love it in this ocean color mixed with gray. This would also work well in a bulky cotton if wool is uncomfortable for you.
I hope you enjoy this free pattern. Happy Looming!

NAUTICAL ROPE-KNOT COWL
Description
A series of decreases and bulky yarn create a rope-like lace fabric between two borders of garter stitch. This is a structural cowl with great texture.
Level: Confident Beginner
Size: 22”/55.9 cm around x 9”/22.9 cm high.
Yarn: Wool of the Andes Bulky, 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 137 yds/100 g, Bulky weight. 1 skein, Color #0528, silver and 1 skein, Color #8422, Beach Glass.
Supplies: Knitting tool, crochet hook, measuring tape.
Loom: 3/4” Peg spacing round loom, 40 pegs. (large gauge Knifty Knitter style). The 41 peg may be used but will produce a line of stockinette.
PATTERN NOTES:
- Bulky yarn is needed to achieve the rope-like look to this cowl. Please keep this in mind if changing yarn.
- If using an odd peg loom such as the 41 peg, you will need to add an extra knit stitch at the end of some rnds. This will not be indicated within the pattern. Doing this may leave an undesirable line of stockinette. The 40 peg loom is recommended.
- Cowl is worked in the round.
GAUGE: not necessary. Use measuring tape to achieve proper sizing.
